What do you wear to a barn wedding?
I guess I’ve been trying on the black dress look lately. And I’ll tell ya what, I don’t hate it! As long as the piece feels special and different than your classic LBD than I can totally dig!
So, back to the barn wedding. I did in fact attend one of those this week. My cousin Brittany was married this weekend in Howell, Michigan in the middle of a corn field. The ceremony was held outside where the guests sat on blocks of hay and were, as the pastor himself said, “Pastorized”. I really enjoyed the country, tongue and cheek “hillbilly” theme, even though black is not the best color to wear around hay and wood dust because it will inevitably be highlighted by the black background. My entire family danced the night away and had a blast, but I have to say my grandfather certainly had the best time of all. He danced his 80-something year old behind off to classic favs such as “Party Rockers” and “The Detroit Hustle” and nearly burned a hole into the barn floor during his rendition of the YMCA.
This was my Marilyn Monroe moment outside the porta-potty! What a weekend.
